The 2014 Manufacturing Renaissance Gala
Hosted by RIMA and makeRI
This year, on October 25th, RIMA partnered with its manufacturing education leaders from makeRI to celebrate the continuing renaissance of manufacturing. We recognized the extraordinary efforts of our partners in the RI Manufacturing Renaissance Collaborative (the MRC) -- Chafee Center at Bryant University, Polaris MEP and CommerceRI. We also recognized the RI Foundation for their support of the RI community and especially manufacturing. Over 200 guests enjoyed the great food, camaraderie and wonderful conversation.

Since our beginnings with Slater Mill, Rhode Island has been a pioneer and manufacturing leader. Today, Rhode Island has over 1,600 manufacturing facilities employing more than 41,000 workers. These companies are providing challenging and rewarding careers with great pay and exceptional benefits. Many are realizing how industry has transformed and now understand the significance of growing and maintaining a strong, vibrant manufacturing base -- a crucial element of our state’s economic recovery; a provider a good jobs; a career opportunity for our young adults.

RIMA'S 2013 MANUFACTURING RENAISSANCE GALA
On behalf of RIMA, I would like to thank our sponsors, advertisers and all who attended and supported our 2013 RI Manufacturing Renaissance event in October. It was an evening of tremendous conversation and great fun. During the night we had a chance to recognize the terrific work of several educational leaders -- Beth and Kevin Cunha at the Center for Dynamic Learning in Providence; Briar Dacier from Davies Career & Tech High School in Lincoln; and, the founding members of the Manufacturing Skills Initiative for RI. The work being done to encourage our youth to explore careers in manufacturing is absolutely wonderful.
